Workplace Guidelines
- Observe and practise all the safety protocols given for your job.
- Report to work well-rested and physically fit to be able to perform well and focus on your job.
- Do not bring liquor or any intoxicating drinks and chemicals in the workplace.
- Horseplay, practical jokes, and inappropriate behaviour while in the workplace will not be tolerated.
- Do not disturb your co-workers while they are doing their jobs. If you need something, wait until he/she has completed the assigned task.
- Master all first aid procedures so that you can provide immediate medical assistance should someone gets injured.
- Immediately report any injury or any safety code violation to your supervisor.
- Submit yourself to daily safety and security check to ensure that you are complying with the company’s safety standards.
- Clean all tools and apparatus before returning them to their storage containers.
- Before leaving your work station, see to it that all machinery is unplugged and no hazardous materials are left in the area.
I. Protective Clothing and Gear
Before you are required to start your job, you may be provided with protective clothing and equipment. Take care of them and use them only as instructed. Any destruction or loss due to negligence will be charged against you.
- Wear the required protective clothing whenever you enter the workplace.
- Do not come to work wearing open-toe shoes or sandals. Only use the safety shoes provided to you.
- Do not wear jewellery items and accessories when working with machines. These could easily get caught in the equipment and cause injury to you and damage to the machinery.
- Never wear loose clothing when dealing with machinery. This could get caught in one of the equipment’s parts and bring hazard to you.
- If required at work, wear protective gear like goggles for the eyes, mask for the face, safety net for the hair, gloves for the hands, and the like.
- Use restraints, belts, pull backs, and two-hand devices for ultimate protection. Noncompliance of this requirement is strictly unacceptable.
All of the protective and safety clothing and equipment are inspected by safety officers during their regular visits. You will be notified accordingly prior to the scheduled inspections
II. Electrical and Fire Safety
- Smoke only in designated places. Never attempt to light a cigarette anywhere near highly flammable liquids and combustible materials.
- Do not use open lights at least 15 metres away from a highly flammable zone.
- Make sure that all flammable and combustible materials are stored in a safe and fire-free area.
- Frayed wires can cause fires. Replace all worn, old or damaged cords immediately.
- Do not tamper with electric controls or switches.
- Do not overload wall sockets or extension cords.
- Do not continue using overheated tools and machinery because they could trigger sparks that will lead to fire.
- Before leaving the workplace, ensure that all electrical apparatus are unplugged from the socket.
- Do not block access to fire extinguishers and hose sprinkler heads.
- Know where the fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, sprinklers, and fire exits are located. This will help you act immediately in cases of fires.
- Attend all fire prevention trainings and fire drills. Take these trainings seriously as they will help you with what to do when a fire occurs.
III. Machinery and Vehicles
- Never operate a machine if you are not familiar with its functional buttons. Wait for proper instruction or let an authorised worker operate it for you.
- Keep machine guards in their intended place and never attempt to remove them.
- Do no play with compressed air. Use it only for its intended purpose.
- Shut down your machine before cleaning, repairing, or leaving.
- Never stand anywhere near a running machine without wearing protective apparel and gear.
- Do not walk under and run your hands on running conveyor belts. You could instantly injure yourself if you do.
- Forklift trucks and tow motors should only be operated by authorised personnel.
- When travelling, forks must not be raised in order to avoid hazard.
- Driving speed must be limited only to the level most fit for the existing working condition.
IV. Housekeeping
- Keep your working space clean and neat at all times.
- Do not throw objects and debris anywhere.
- Use the trash bins provided to throw garbage; use the cigarette butt receptacles for cigarette butts.
- Keep all aisles clear and free from boxes, carts, tools, and hazardous materials.
- Machines and other objects must be placed only in their designated places. If they are found in another place, be responsible enough to put them back in the right place.
- Clean up spilled liquid, oil, or grease immediately to avoid falls and slips.
Safety Checklist

Reporting an Accident
No matter how small an incident may be, always report the mishap to your supervisor or to the safety committee. Remember that first aid procedure must be given to the injured employee right away to avoid complicating his condition.
