Occupational Safety Rules

Safety Rules in the Workplace

If accidents happen in your office on a daily basis, imagine the expenses that your company will incur in order to cover the medical costs of the affected employees. Think about the number of lost hours that could possibly put your daily operation into jeopardy. Of course, imagine losing the high-performing employees that you have all because of the mishaps that constantly occur in your premises. Don't you think this is stressful, not to mention too expensive for you?
Instead of waiting for another work-related injury, illness, or death to happen, why don't you establish a set of safety rules that everyone in your company should abide by. Gather all the employees in a general meeting and discuss your occupational health and safety programme with them. Make sure that they understand every single item stated in the programme by presenting everything in a simple manner and answering all questions in a straightforward way. Of course, do not forget to tackle your safety rules before the gathering ends. Should new employees join your firm, ensure that they are aware of your regulations by organising a toolbox seminar for them.
Aside from carrying out a seminar about OHS, you can also print out the company's safety rules and distribute copies of it in the different departments. You can also emphasise the safety rules by using signs and boards bearing safety information on them. Make sure that they are positioned in highly visible areas so that people will never overlook them in any way.
