Millions of dollars have been wasted in covering medical and accidental costs for injured employees. Companies have spent a lot of cash every year in order to deal with occupational health and safety issues involving their workforce. Even if the employers have emphasised to put safety first at all times, injuries and deaths still occur in different places of work. Employers need to inculcate into everyone's thinking that it is extremely important to put safety first. To do that, they should serve as role models to the people. That means that they need to observe and practise the protocols stated in their occupational health and safety policy. In addition to that, they must hold regular toolbox talks where everybody is taught about valuable measures that will protect the employees and their colleagues from danger. Furthermore, company heads should take advantage of safety first signs that can act as reminders to people working in the premises. The signage must be installed on highly visible spots in the high-risk zones of the site. Through all these efforts, it will not be hard to cultivate a working environment that puts safety first at all times.
